FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How Important Is Funding?
West Central Georgia Community Action Council, Inc.,
Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization. Due to the ever
increasing competition for funding, Georgia Community
Action Agencies must look for innovative methods
and develop alternative funding options to prepare
for an uncertain future. Private funding sources
sometimes view CAAs as publicly funded agencies
with little need for private funding. It is imperative
that public funds remain available to CAAs so that
services offered will not be reduced or eliminated
to the detriment of those in need.
Where does Funding for Community Action Agencies
come from?
Core funding is federally appropriated in a Community
Service Block Grant administered through the Department
of Human Resources. However, funding is obtained
by Community Action Agencies from a variety of Federal,
State and local services, such as Fundraiser Events,
In- Kind Services, Donations, etc.
